BOOKS AND MATERIALS

Beginning in Music 3 : Workbook and Teacher Guide

  • ISBN: n/a        n/a

Rod and Staff Books

32 worksheets teach the shapes and kinds of notes and rests, musical terms, scales, staff, lines, spaces, measures, accidentals, and drills by tracing, coloring and matching shapes; vocalizing expanded.  Teachers manual / lesson plan included.  This series is a sight-reading and vocalization program.  A great companion set is Wee Sing the Bible tape and songbook set, available in Bible and retail bookstores.  The real strength of this program is that it is written very appropriately to this grade level, making it a great tool to teach independent work—a skill that must be taught slowly and surely.  Workbooks 1 and 2 are useful, but not necessary.

For quarterly reporting of “Fine Arts/Music Practice”, report progress by page number; for a work sample, make a copy of the student’s latest worksheet.  (Music lessons or children’s choir can be substituted for this course.)
